Wow, I still can’t believe I was nominated for this award. I want to thank Emma, from the beautiful blog Forever Lost in Travel – check it out, especially her Thailand post – for nominating me for this award. I am still surprised, and I almost screamed in class when I saw the nomination! I have been blogging for almost a month now, and I am very blessed to be part of this amazing community. I love the support, feedback, and help I am receiving from everybody!

Where was the first trip you took alone?
Growing up, I did three summer camps abroad to improve my English and my French. I went to Ireland and to New York for my English, and to Nice, France, for my French. However, I don’t think they apply, since I was always in a group.
So, to answer the question, I should say the very first trip I took alone is when I went back to Spain, alone, for two months. Of course I had some friends there, but overall I had a lot of me time, a lot of time to travel around. In two months I visited Madrid (where I had my room), Toledo, Avila, Segovia, Barcelona, and Sevilla. I honestly loved every moment of it. Of course I did not enjoy the terrible heat, but the food, the sangria, and the beautiful scenery made it bearable!
What’s the best tip you have received as a new blogger?
The best tip, and lesson, received is not to rush it. Blogs are like flowers, you can’t tell flowers to blossom faster. You have to wait, and do the work, and then success will come.
What is a book that inspired you to do something different with your life?
I think it’s To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I loved reading that book as as a teenager, and every time I think about Scout, I smile. This book taught me to stand up for what I believe in, and not to let society dictate my life.
You’re going on a long plane/train ride, what are 5 things you must have with you?
1. My phone
2. My camera
3. My travel pillow
4. Food and water
5. A book
Tell me about a random act of kindness you have encountered or witnessed while traveling
I once saw a man buying an ice cream for a homeless man in Madrid. It was a very hot day, and I thought it was a very nice gesture.
What is the best gift you have ever received?
The best gift I have ever received is my father’s camera and its equipment. My dad loves taking pictures, and he always brought his film camera with him. Last year, however, he gave it to me, because he wanted me to keep using it. Even if he still takes pictures, he claims he is “too old for film photography”, but he does not want the tradition to die. Now, that camera is part of my travel and artistic equipment.
Where is a place you have traveled to numerous times that you just can’t get enough of?
Greece. I have been there at least three times and I would love to go back! I love the beaches, I love the people, I love the food, and I love how relaxed life is over there. If I were rich, I would buy a vacation house over there, possibly on the beach, and just go there as much as I can. Greece is one of my happy places, and I hope to be back there soon!
If you could only watch one TV series for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This one is hard! I love tv series, I love Chuck, Friends, How I Met Your Mother, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Office, and One Day at the Time. However, if I had to choose only one of these, for the rest of my life, I would choose How I Met Your Mother. I just love their adventures, and it’s overall LEGEN… wait for it… DARY!
What food/food combination do you like that others seem to think is weird?
I really like to eat blue cheese with either grapes and or pears. Or, I really like to eat Nutella with Pringles… I mean they both sound like very weird combinations, but the flavors just really complement each other!
If one quote could sum up your life, what would it be?
The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary – Harvey Specter (Suits).
What is the greatest experience you’ve had while traveling/visiting somewhere new?
The greatest experience was seeing the Guernica al Reina Sofia in Madrid. Just being there and observing the amazing painting by Picasso. It’s incredible how everybody stops and just observes it, without making a noise. The characters communicate the pain people in Guernica suffered, and how many other people are still suffering because of the war.
